The binding of Satan.

Bound with chains in the bottomless pit for a thousand years. Rev 20:1-6

Final thoughts on the binding of Satan.

Why this is such an important event.

The destruction caused by Satan.

The following passages will give you a clear picture of the power of Satan.

Understanding the enemy will help in defending ourselves.

He plants lying hypocrites in the church

Acts 5:3 (ESV) — 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land?

Satan has schemes against believers.

2 Corinthians 2:11 (CSB) — 11 so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes.

Ephesians 6:11 (CSB) — 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil.

Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:13–14 (NLT) — 13 These people are false apostles. They are deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Satan attacks believers.

2 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT) — 7 even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.

Ephesians 4:27 (NLT) — 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

Satan must be resisted

James 4:7 (NLT) — 7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Hinders those in ministry

1 Thessalonians 2:18 (NLT) — 18 We wanted very much to come to you, and I, Paul, tried again and again, but Satan prevented us.

1 Timothy 5:15 (NLT) — 15 For I am afraid that some of them have already gone astray and now follow Satan.

The god of this world

2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT) — 4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

Obeyed by unbelievers (Sons of disobedience)

Ephesians 2:2 (NLT) — 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

NKJV (The spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience)

We also notice that as ESV calls Satan “the prince of the power of the air”

This an unseen realm (world system) in which Satan is the ruler and commander.

Satan traps believers.

2 Timothy 2:26 (NLT) — 26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.

1 Timothy 4:1 (NLT) — 1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.

1 Timothy 4:2 (NLT) — 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

1 Timothy 4:2 (NKJV) — 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

Probably the most destructive force in the church is a false teacher/prophet.

Satan will also use church arguments to divide us and capture us.

The bible warns us to “study to show ourselves approved.” 2 Timothy 2:15

How to win the battle

The power of strength of Christ.

Colossians 1:11 (NCV) — 11 God will strengthen you with his own great power so that you will not give up when troubles come, but you will be patient.
