- The great thing about this is that it points in the right direction.
- What are you passionate about?
- Discovering your spiritual gift.
- The Bible and Heart.
- Required for Salvation.
- Romans 10:9 (CSB) — 9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- Just having a knowledge of Christ and believing that He existed is not enough.
- James 2:19 (NET 2nd ed.) — 19 You believe that God is one; well and good. Even the demons believe that—and tremble with fear.
- Heart defined.
- “When the bible uses the word "heart" it signifies the totality of your being - your mind, emotions, and will.”
- This is what leads to salvation!
- Our total being.
- The perfect example.
- Psalm 42:1–2 (CEV) — 1 As a deer gets thirsty for streams of water, I truly am thirsty for you, my God. 2 In my heart, I am thirsty for you, the living God. When will I see your face?
- Listen to what Jesus says in verse 6.
- I think we will get the full impact of this verse.
- Like the deer longing for a drink from the stream.
- Like a love sick heart that longs to see their love one.
- Like God’s love for us. “God SO LOVED the world”.
- Required for Salvation.
- Hunger and thirst.
- Hear Jesus’ words.
- Matthew 5:6 (NIV) — 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
- Notice the *Paradox! ________________________
- The psalmist said the same thing.
- Psalm 63:1 (NLT) — 1 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.
- It’s a desperate hunger.
- “Blessed are those who desperately hunger and thirst for righteousness,”
- Hear Jesus’ words.
- You stand at a crossroads.
- Will you continue with life as usual?
- Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV) — 13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
- Are you trying to draw water from a cracked cistern?
- What a *paradox.
- Jesus is saying happy are the hungry.
- Happy are the thirsty.
- Matthew 6:21 (NLT) — 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
- Will you continue with life as usual?
