      1. The great thing about this is that it points in the right direction.
      2. What are you passionate about?
  2. The Bible and Heart.
    1. Required for Salvation.
      1. Romans 10:9 (CSB) — 9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
      2. Just having a knowledge of Christ and believing that He existed is not enough.
      3. James 2:19 (NET 2nd ed.) — 19 You believe that God is one; well and good. Even the demons believe that—and tremble with fear.
    2. Heart defined.
      1. “When the bible uses the word "heart" it signifies the totality of your being - your mind, emotions, and will.”
      2. This is what leads to salvation!
      3. Our total being.
    3. The perfect example.
      1. Psalm 42:1–2 (CEV) — 1 As a deer gets thirsty for streams of water, I truly am thirsty for you, my God. 2 In my heart, I am thirsty for you, the living God. When will I see your face?
    4. Listen to what Jesus says in verse 6.
      1. I think we will get the full impact of this verse.
      2. Like the deer longing for a drink from the stream.
      3. Like a love sick heart that longs to see their love one.
      4. Like God’s love for us. “God SO LOVED the world”.
  3. Hunger and thirst.
    1. Hear Jesus’ words.
      1. Matthew 5:6 (NIV) — 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
      2. Notice the *Paradox! ________________________
    2. The psalmist said the same thing.
      1. Psalm 63:1 (NLT) — 1 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.
    3. It’s a desperate hunger.
      1. “Blessed are those who desperately hunger and thirst for righteousness,”
  4. You stand at a crossroads.
    1. Will you continue with life as usual?
      1. Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV) — 13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.
      2. Are you trying to draw water from a cracked cistern?
    2. What a *paradox.
      1. Jesus is saying happy are the hungry.
      2. Happy are the thirsty.
      3. Matthew 6:21 (NLT) — 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
